Q) What is your name, and where are you from?
A) My name is Alexander, and I live in Kisii, Kenya.
Q) How did you meet God?
A) I once had a tragic road accident. I was coming home from Kisii town, riding as a passenger on a motorbike, when we were hit by a large vehicle. I was 20 years old at the time. I stayed in the hospital for three months, and after I was discharged, it took me another two months before I could walk again. I had lost all hope, but God healed me. That’s when I decided to give my life to Christ.
Q) We heard that you first met Pastor Jeremiah when he received a message from God to look for a man named Alex. Can you tell us about that experience?
A) I felt the grace of God and was so much happy when first was told pastor Jeremiah was looking for Alexander
Q) How has your life changed since meeting Jesus?
A) My daily life has changed a lot. Spending time at Pastor David’s place has helped me overcome many temptations. I have been able to stay away from the peer groups that used to mislead me and kept me from going to church. I am very thankful for everything God is doing in my life.
We remember Brother Alexander from when we met him in July of 2024. He was so happy to see Pastor Jeremiah. He said he had asked for a two-week vacation from the grocery store where he works every day, so he could attend the conference led by Pastor Jeremiah and Pastor Peter. He welcomed us with his long arms and big smile. He is usually shy, but his happiness could not be hidden by his shyness.
He lives in Kisii, about 15 to 20 minutes from Pastor David’s children’s home in Ogembo, Kenya. Because of his vacation request, he was laid off from the grocery store.
He is now hired at Pastor David’s children’s home. He was offered a place to live there, so he is staying and taking care of the children while assisting Pastor David. He also helps with Sunday school at Faithway Church, where Pastor David is the lead pastor.
At home, Brother Alexander lives with his mother and two younger siblings. He has older siblings, but they do not participate in supporting the rest of the family. His mother suffers from diabetes and its complications. This is the most stressful part for Brother Alexander as he walks the path of the Cross as a new Christian. His older sister lives in Saudi Arabia, and another sister lives far away (he’s not sure where exactly). He has to take care of his mother, himself, and his siblings. His dream is to go to school — he wants to attend Bible college.
He can’t even imagine getting married because they are poor, and he is the only one providing for the family.
