UGANDA

Uganda, known as “the Pearl of Africa,” is located in East Africa and shares its border with Kenya. With its many mountains and breathtaking landscapes, it is a nation abundant in natural beauty.

However, it remains a country facing severe poverty, and many children lack access to education and basic medical services. Rural areas especially struggle with limited clean water and unstable living conditions, and they also have a high number of orphans and vulnerable children.

The Christian population in Uganda is large. After the East African Revival—which began in the 1930s and later spread throughout the region—a strong call to repentance arose, shaping the faith of many believers. The traditions of prayer and fasting have continued to influence Christian communities across the country.

However, the biblical foundation in many communities remains weak, and issues such as syncretism (the blending of Christianity with traditional beliefs), false teachings, and prosperity theology persist. For this reason, alongside the challenges of poverty and orphan care, there is an urgent need for sound biblical teaching, doctrinal education, and leadership training.

Pastor Anguria Stephen Chelangat was born in 1979 in Ngenge, Uganda.

In 1986, after violent raids in his community, he and his family moved to Kaminy in Kapchorwa District.

His father was an Anglican pastor, and Pastor Stephen felt called to follow in his father's footsteps. In 2014, he began studying at a biblical college but could not complete his studies due to financial challenges.

In 2022, he returned to theological college to complete a diploma and is currently pursuing a degree in theology with a focus on missions.

In 2011, he married Yamangusho Scovia, a teacher who currently volunteers at a community school attended by many of the children in their care. Together, they look after around 20 children at home—three of their own and many from the village who need care.

Pastor Stephen serves as the Lead Pastor at Ebenezer Revival Center in Kachorwa, Kapchorwa, a small church meeting in a rented hall. The congregation is made up of about 30 adults, many of whom are women, including around ten widows. Tragically, one widow lost her husband in the recent floods.

In November 2025, Pastor Stephen sent us message that many people in Uganda lost their homes and family members due to flooding. He and his church members have been visiting those living in fields and forests, distributing clothes and food, and sharing the gospel.

Heavenly Creek Ministry came to know Pastor Steven through Pastor David, as they both attend Trinity Biblical Institute in Uganda. When Pastor Steven was completing his diploma, he met Pastor David, who shared a message about the revival that brought them closer.

When we first met Pastor Steven during our visit to Uganda on a mission trip to Kenya in May 2025, he participated in the revival meeting held there. He and his wife later joined another revival meeting at Ogembo Revival Center in August 2025. Since then, we have been supporting his ministry, and we will continue to share updates and urgent prayer requests as they arise.
