2025 Summer Short Term Ministry – A Journey Across East Africa By Heavenly Creek Ministry Staff Writer

[Arrived at Kenya}
With humble hearts and sincere gratitude, we reflect on the mission journey that recently unfolded across Kisii, the Kakuma Refugee Camp, and Uganda — a journey marked by God’s providence, compassion, and revival. From the very first moments of our arrival, it was clear that God had gone before us.
We had the privilege of joining the dedication service at the newly completed Ogembo Revival Centre. On our previous visit, we stood together on an empty plot with only the foundation in place, praying that God would raise up a space where people could gather to worship, seek revival, and pursue His Kingdom. We supported the vision with hope that it would become a house of prayer and renewal.
Now, by God’s grace, the building is complete, and we were honored to worship together and dedicate it to His purpose.

We shared a special time of fellowship through the women’s ministry, engaging both adult women and young women in the community. On the first day, we gathered with the women’s group, and on the second day, we met with the younger women for a youth-focused gathering. While we cannot fully grasp the challenges many women in Kenya face, the testimonies shared by three sisters from our team offered quiet encouragement and renewed perspective. For those who have experienced hardship or trauma, it became a moment to reflect, listen, and draw strength together.

We had the opportunity to spend time with the staff at the Mananasi Children's Home.
These individuals are not merely workers—they serve as second parents, caring for, feeding, and educating the children every day.
This time together was more than just fellowship;
it became a meaningful moment to encourage them, listen to their stories, and offer comfort through shared lives and genuine conversation. As we connected heart to heart, we could truly sense the deep love of God in our midst.

We also engaged the children in meaningful activities at Mananasi Children's Home and Sunday school, creating Noah’s Ark crafts while sharing the gospel message of God’s covenant and obedience. These moments were more than craft time; they were opportunities for the children to meet God’s love and promises in a tangible way.

At the Mananasi Children's Home, many of the children face nutritional deficiencies and limited hygiene education. To support their health, we prepared and served nutritious evening meals each day, thoughtfully cooked with their needs in mind.We also taught the children about dental hygiene, demonstrating proper tooth brushing since regular dental care is not easily accessible.To protect them from insects at night and promote scalp health, we applied essential oils to their heads.Additionally, we spent time together in Bible study and craft activities, helping the children grow in their understanding of God and experience His love in a joyful, tangible way.

Our mission continued to the Kakuma Refugee Camp, where under the guidance of Pastor Charles, we served communities facing unimaginable hardship. In the harsh climate of this distant land, we brought essentials such as flour, cooking oil, and milk, distributing them to four local churches. Together, we lifted our voices in worship with the song “A Servant in Your Heavenly House,” reminding each other that though earthly circumstances may be lowly, our identity as children of God remains exalted.

The people of Kakuma welcomed us with gratitude and open hearts, expressing hope for deeper fellowship and requesting our return to stay longer and share the gospel more fully. With over two million refugees and nearly 200 churches, this community is a living testament to God’s sustaining power amid trials and tribulations.

This was our first time ministering in Uganda, where—by God's clear leading—we hosted the “Flames of Revival” conference with over 120 church leaders.
In the final session, many testified that God had poured out the fire of revival in answer to their prayers. The presence of the Holy Spirit was unmistakable, renewing hearts and stirring fresh passion. We believe the seeds planted during this gathering will bear lasting fruit and ignite a wider spiritual awakening across East Africa.
Pastor Stephen, who hosted the conference in Uganda, is an acquaintance of Pastor David, whom he met during their time at seminary. During the event, Pastor Stephen delivered a passionate lecture on the history of revival in Uganda, emphasizing the urgent need for a new spiritual awakening. His words resonated deeply, revealing a genuine conviction.
It was later revealed that Pastor Stephen has been praying fervently for revival for the past three years. A visit to his home offered a glimpse into his daily life and ministry. In addition to raising his own three children, he has opened his home to 12 orphans, caring for them with the love and compassion of Christ.

In Uganda, Pastor David completed his recent exams and prepared to begin a new semester starting June 9, 2025. His faithful journey through theological training is a testament to God’s call and provision. We humbly ask for prayers and support as he seeks $960 in tuition to continue equipping himself for ministry.

Finally, we witnessed a pressing need for the renovation of the orphanage’s infant rooms. Due to a fire last year in the building above where Pastor Jeremiah stayed, there is a damaged space that could be restored to serve as a safer, quieter environment for children aged 0-3. The estimated cost for this important repair is $2,000. We ask for prayerful support so that these precious children may grow in a nurturing and secure room.

Through every step of this journey, we have witnessed God’s hand at work — opening doors, providing for needs, and drawing hearts closer to Him. May this mission remain a testimony of His grace and faithfulness, and may the seeds sown continue to bear lasting fruit for His kingdom.
